Huskers Add a Powerful Pass-Catcher to 2018 Class

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are red-hot on the recruiting trail.

Over the weekend, Nebraska hosted a good group of visitors and had gotten a lot of buzz after a great first week of getting out, seeing prospects in-home and sending out a lot of offers. Sunday evening, 4-star safety CJ Smith from West Palm Beach, Florida, became the first commit of the Scott Frost era. Later that night, 3-star junior college wide reeiver/running back Jaron Woodyard joined the class, giving Nebraska some much needed speed.

On Monday night, the good news kept rolling when 3-star wide receiver/tight end Justin McGriff‍ (6-6, 210) tweeted this out:

McGriff gives Nebraska a hybrid tight end that it currently does not have on the roster, but can be very effective in Frost’s offense. Jordan Akins filled that role this year for UCF and was the team’s third-leading receiver with 30 receptions for 459 yards and four touchdowns.

Earlier in the day, McGriff backed off his commitment to UCF just one day after getting home from his official visit to Nebraska. That was a sure sign that he was ready to follow Frost and tight ends coach Sean Beckton, who he is very close with, to Nebraska. McGriff is the 10 member of the Nebraska 2018 recruiting class. He is an early enrollee and plans to sign December 20th.
