Throughout the rough season for Nebraska, the team has had a slow drip of players leaving the 2018 recruiting class. In the midst of all that, Colorado defensive end Tate Wildeman‍ stuck with Nebraska through the tough times and has now come out the other side with all of the excitement swirling around the program with Scott Frost at the helm.

Wildeman had already taken an unofficial visit for the Wisconsin game. He became a fan favorite when the story came out that he drove all night to come check that game out and be around the other recruits that were in town that weekend.

He was finally able to take his official visit to Nebraska this weekend, where he was able to meet the new coaching staff and be around some key targets for this class. Wildeman told me that meeting Frost and Chinander was “really good. We gelled very well together.”

It’s been slowly building during the season that Wildeman has become a leader in this class and has taken on the role of peer-recruiter. So, I wasn’t surprised to learn from him that he really enjoyed taking on that role this weekend.

“Oh yeah, it was awesome showing them around and they loved Nebraska before they had even seen all the stuff so I think those (facilities) definitely spoke for themselves!”

Wildeman says that he spent the most time with 4-star defensive back recruit Cam Jones and the two bonded quickly. The trip couldn’t have gone better for Wildeman who is now even more firm in his decision to become a Blackshirt. The defensive end will be signing on Wednesday and enrolling over the summer.
