Huskers Top Midwest Rivals for JUCO LB Will Honas

Nebraska has dipped back into the junior college ranks to land a big-time linebacker.

Some players become very well-known throughout the recruiting process for how active they are on social media and through interviews, but that is certainly not the case with the latest player to join the 2018 Nebraska recruiting class, linebacker Will Honas‍. He is certainly a man of few words as I’ve exchanged messages with him a few times and he is very to the point.

On Thursday Nebraska announced he would be playing for Frost with this tweet:

Honas, who played his junior college ball at Butler Community College became the third JUCO player to join the Huskers this cycle after the school hadn’t recruited any the past three years. It’s especially important that Nebraska landed Honas since division rival Iowa was a strong contender for him along with old rival Kansas State where his brother plays. Wisconsin also came in late with an offer for Honas.

The hard-hitting linebacker has a great relationship with Barret Ruud, which surely helped Nebraska’s case to land him. He took an official visit to Nebraska last weekend, giving the Huskers the last crack at him before the early signing period began. It is expected that Honas will compete for playing time immediately and is the likely replacement for Chris Weber at one of the inside linebacker spots. He has 3 years to play 2 at Nebraska and will be in Lincoln in January.

His Hudl film has already made him one of the most talked about and sought-after recruits of the Frost era so far.
