Nebraska Prospects to Watch in the Under Armour All-American Game

Tonight on ESPN2 at 5 pm central time, the Under Armour All-American Game will take place in Orlando, Florida. Since Nebraska had a coaching change, it’s not typical to expect them to have a lot of prospects in the all-star games. That being said, there are some things to look out for in the game for Husker fans.

First off, the biggest reason Nebraska fans will be watching this game is for 4-star quarterback signee Adrian Martinez‍. It will be his first game action in over a year since he sat out all this season after undergoing shoulder surgery in March. He is fully cleared and has been practicing this week and is anxious to get back on the field. He has been getting good reviews, and could be due for a rating bump if he performs well in the game. This game and week of practice should give him a little jump on knocking the rust off before winter conditioning.

Another player to keep an eye on is 4-star wide receiver Tommy Bush‍. The rangy wideout (6-5, 187) has great size, but also has track speed making him a very coveted prospect this recruiting cycle. He took an official visit to Nebraska during the season and was being recruited heavily by the previous staff. He has had good contact with the current staff as well, getting an in-home visit from offensive coordinator and wide receiver coach Troy Walters. It will be fun to see Bush going against top competition in the game.

One name that is a bit off the radar is Maurice Washington. The Texas running back (6-1, 190) has Division I talent and is a real burner out of the backfield. He is looking to set up a January visit date and could be a wild card added to the class. He doesn’t have a Nebraska offer yet but could be right on the cusp of receiving one.

Since there was a coaching transition there is a solid list of guys that Nebraska was in on previously or even got late scholarship offers from the new staff. These names that you know could end up being contributors around the country but had interest in the Huskers at one point. Defensive tackle Calvin Avery‍ (Illinois), wide receiver Jacob Copeland‍, cornerback Jaycee Horn‍ (South Carolina), cornerback Kalon Gervin‍ (Michigan State), cornerback Olaijah Griffin‍, defensive back Trey Dean‍ (Florida), athlete Bryan Addison‍ (UCLA), cornerback Byron Hanspard‍ (Baylor), defensive back Houston Griffith‍ (Notre Dame), wide receiver Josh Moore‍, offensive lineman Nicholas Petit-Frere‍ and wide receiver Shaquon Anderson-Butts‍ (Penn State) are all guys playing in this game that will look familiar to Nebraska fans.
