Through two coaching staffs this season, Nebraska has searched far and wide for quality offensive line prospects. In particular, offensive tackle recruiting has been a sore spot this cycle. Recently, Nebraska has made a strong push for 3-star tackle Willie Canty‍ (6-6, 290) from Belle Glade, Florida.

The Huskers hosted him during the final weekend for visits before National Signing Day on Wednesday, Feb. 7.

Canty and his family were still travelling when I caught up with him and he gave his overall thoughts on the visit.

“Well I got to see snow for the first time," he said. "I was excited for that to be honest with you. The visit was good though.”

Outside of the snow, Canty told me that he enjoyed his host Willie Hampton. Having another Florida guy show him around was a smart move by the staff. The Florida native also said that he liked the sports management program and enjoyed the time with strength coach Zach Duval.

Canty also had one-on-one meetings with Scott Frost and offensive line coach Greg Austin. He is familiar with both because they have been part of his recruitment for a long time as they were recruiting him while they were at Central Florida.

When it comes down to which schools he will be deciding between, Canty says his final two are Nebraska and Louisville. There are some factors he has in mind that he will use to make his decision.

“The sports management program, the players," Canty said. "I liked to ask them questions about what things were like. How the coaching staff is and their relationship with the players and how the environment will be for the next four or five years."

Canty will be announcing his decision on signing day at Glades Central High School.
