Big Ten Announces Addition of Friday Night Football

Prepare yourselves, Husker fans. Friday night football is coming to the Big Ten.

Commissioner Jim Delany confirmed the news to the Chicago Tribune on Wednesday, saying that the Big Ten's "new television agreements with ESPN/ABC and Fox will include a package of six prime-time Friday games starting in 2017."

A couple of interesting notes is that Delany is not sure the Big Ten will ask schools with large seating capacities to host Friday night games. That could potentially eliminate Ohio State, Penn State and others from consideration (although it looks like the Buckeyes have already agreed to one game every three years). Michigan has also already said no and will not agree to Friday night games at home or on the road.

Delany also told the Tribune that there will be three conference games and three non-conference games in September and October that will fall on Friday nights. He also said no team will play more than twice.

As for how this will affect Nebraska, the Huskers will play one Friday night home game every three years. When that will begin has yet to be announced.
