It’s difficult to be under the radar when you are 6-3 and 310 pounds, but right now you can classify one of the latest Husker offers as that. Three-star offensive lineman Layden Robinson‍ from Manvel High School in Manvel, Texas, was excited to pick up an offer from the Huskers on Tuesday.

Robinson says that offensive line coach Greg Austin has been by his Houston-area school twice. Austin talked to him during track when he was throwing to tell Robinson that he likes the way he plays. Austin was back at Manvel on Tuesday when Robinson got his offer. Robinson told me that his relationship with Austin is really good and that he can tell that he’s a very good coach. I asked the lineman if he had knowledge of the Big Red prior to the offer and he was well aware of the program.

“Yes sir, of course," Robinson said. “They are a great football program. They have a lot of wins, more than a lot of colleges. For the last 50 years that’s what they’ve been doing. It’s a great college. “

The summer will prove to be a busy one for Robinson. When I asked him about his summer plans, he said he has a lot of camp trips planned. He plans to hit Alabama, Georgia, UCLA, Florida, Houston, Baylor and Texas A&M camps. He said that he “for sure” will hit a Nebraska camp, he just needs to figure out which one with his mom.

It’s early in his recruitment but Robinson is very focused on how strong his potential school is academically. He was quite adamant about that when I asked him what the most important thing he is looking for in a future school.

“The education is always first. That’s very important to me. I have some things that revolve around education that I’m looking forward to doing," he said. "Also, the brotherhood at the school and God. That’s one main thing about me.”
