The top-rated high school prospect in Nebraska is going to be a Husker as Omaha Burke linebacker Nick Henrich‍ verbally committed to Nebraska on Saturday night.

Henrich chose Nebraska over a number of high-profile offers from Iowa, Florida, Penn State and Texas A&M among others. The Huskers' toughest competition, however, may have come from division rival Wisconsin. Henrich visited the Badgers in mid-June, but immediately followed that up with an unofficial visit to Lincoln on June 18.

That quick follow up by the Huskers' staff may have gone a long way to landing Henrich's commitment. It came a few months removed from a whirlwind spring for Henrich as he made early-April visits to Iowa State, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Notre Dame and Nebraska over the course of two weeks. Henrich told Hail Varsity's Greg Smith following that April visit that the "family atmosphere" among the Nebraska staff stood out as a high point of his time on campus.

As an in-state prospect with strong competition within the division, Henrich was one of the Huskers' top prospects in the 2019 class. His teammate, 4-star tight end Chris Hickman, also holds a Nebraska offer.

With a 91.9 Hail Varsity rating Henrich is the highest-rated prospect in Nebraska's 2019 class, which now includes 13 commits.
