On Saturday, the Huskers hosted a huge visitor weekend with eight official visitors and several unofficial visitors. There were a number of Nebraska’s top 2020 targets on hand for the game against Colorado as well.

One of those targets was 4-star (HV Rating: 93.3) wide receiver Zavier Betts‍. The potential No. 1 player in the state of Nebraska for 2020 hails from Bellevue West High School. He made the trip to Lincoln for the Colorado matchup after having visited for Junior Day over the summer.

Here is the full Q&A with Betts:

What did you think of the overall experience?

“It was awesome. I mean, the crowd was always into the game. If it was a good play or bad play, good call or bad call, the crowd was always right there in it. From what I could tell the guys looked awesome. What Coach [Scott] Frost and the staff have done in the amount of time they’ve been here, it’s incredible what they have done with the team.”

How has your relationship with the staff grown since we last talked in the spring?

“It’s getting a lot stronger. I’ve been in contact with Coach [Barrett] Ruud recently. Overall, it’s more like a friendship right now because of how little we have been able to talk in the past. Coming up soon we are going to be in constant contact almost every day or at least once or twice a week.”

What did you think about the offense and how you could fit in it?

“It was a lot what we do at [Bellevue] West. Well, I should say we run an offense similar to theirs. They run the ball a lot but try to throw the ball and spread the defense as much as possible.

"Where I see myself fitting in, probably as a deep threat. They didn’t take a lot of deep shots yesterday so I don’t know if they have the personnel for that or if they do, they just didn’t take any shots. I think I can help with that.”

What schools other than Nebraska have been contacting you?

“Definitely Minnesota. Coach [P.J.] Fleck has been in constant contact I think every day or every other day. He texts me in the morning to see how I’m doing and everything. He’s definitely up there right now. Other than that, I have a couple contacts from Oregon and LSU.”

Do you have visit plans right now for other schools?

“I’m definitely going to try to see what my schedule is like. I definitely want to try and get back to Iowa State. Possibly I’d try to get to Iowa and Minnesota. I’ll have to see where I can get to this season. “

Do you have plans to get back to Lincoln for a game this year?

“Definitely. I just texted one of the coaches to see which games I could get down to and when.”

How is your season going so far?

“Our team is doing really good. We had a couple of hiccups in a few games. We had a really big one in the second game. We lost our starting quarterback. Then our starting slot stepping into the quarterback position and he performed really well throughout the East game and the [Papillion] South game. Then during the Papio South game we lost one of our returning starters to a dislocated elbow so hopefully he’s back soon.”

What was the most memorable thing about the trip?

“First one has to be the crowd. The crowd was awesome. It was so much energy coming from the crowd. I feel like it fueled the players a little bit more because they got their first game rained so that had to be a little stressful. Then getting to be on the field during pregame and going into the locker room to see what the team is doing before the start of kickoff."
