Adrian Martinez Back at Practice, Status Uncertain for Michigan

Nebraska was without starting quarterback Adrian Martinez against Troy after the freshman suffered a knee injury the previous week against Colorado. Coach Scott Frost didn't say much on Martinez's status Monday morning, but he did give a brief update.

“He practiced today. That’s all I’ll say," Frost said. "We’re going to make a decision on what’s best for the team and what’s best for him. It was close last week but he wasn’t ready and we didn’t want to put him in that situation. We need him for the rest of this year and the rest of his career so the key is going to be if there’s any added danger to further injury.”

Frost went on to say that Martinez will not play “until I hear from trainers he’s progressed to the point where there’s no risk of further injury." Frost believes it would be foolish to play Martinez until that point.

The decision on whether or not to play Martinez may be a game day decision once again.

Martinez ran for 117 yards and two touchdowns (the first coming on a 41-yard keeper) against Colorado before his injury. He also threw for another 187 yards on 15-of-20 passing with a touchdown and a pick against the Buffaloes.
