Nebraska Recruiting: 3-star CB Javin Wright Commits To Huskers

Nebraska just took another step toward filling a huge positional need in the 2019 class.

On Wednesday, the Huskers picked up a commitment from 3-star cornerback (HV Rating: 85.0) Javin Wright‍ (6-foot-3, 190 pounds) from Chandler, Arizona. He announced his decision on Twitter.

The Hamilton High School standout made his first trip to Lincoln for the Colorado game as an official visitor. He is a legacy recruit, as his father Toby Wright was a Blackshirt in the '90s. That means Wright grew up learning about the Huskers and their traditions. He had a great time on his trip to Lincoln despite the loss that day.

On Oct. 20, Wright officially visited UCLA and enjoyed that trip as well. Prior to making a decision he said that both schools were neck-and-neck. Score one for Frost in a battle with his former boss, Chip Kelly.

This summer Wright really saw his recruitment take off and he went over the double-digit mark in offers. It will be interesting to see what happens with Wright once he gets to campus. He has tremendous size for a cornerback but his frame would probably allow for him to grow into a safety or even an outside linebacker.

For now, the Huskers have added another key piece to their defensive backfield where they need to continue adding quality prospects like Wright. The defender is the 20th known commitment for the 2019 class and the second defensive back joining Georgia standout Quinton Newsome.
