No. 6 Nebraska made short work of Indiana on Saturday to wrap up the regular season road schedule with a win.

The Huskers (22-6, 13-5) swept the Hoosiers (16-13, 7-11) 25-13, 25-19, 25-19 at University Gym in Bloomington.

For the second straight match, the Huskers allowed the opponent to hit over .200, but it didn’t matter as Nebraska hit .388 on its side of the net.

Senior outside hitter Mikaela Foecke finished with a match-high 14 kills on .387 hitting. Sophomore middle blocker Lauren Stivrins added 11 kills on .524 hitting plus four blocks and an ace. Sophomore outside hitter Lexi Sun put down eight kills on 16 swings and added a match-high 16 digs and two aces. Freshman setter Nicklin Hames had 39 assists and senior libber Kenzie Maloney recorded 12 digs.

The Hoosiers hung around for the first half of the first set as Nebraska only led 11-10 before the Huskers ripped off a big run. Nebraska outscored Indiana 14-3 the rest of the way including five kills by Foecke.

The second set included 10 ties and five lead changes before Nebraska blew the game open with a 7-0 run served by freshman defensive specialist Megan Miller that put the Huskers up 20-13. Indiana got no closer than five points the rest of the way as the Huskers closed out the set with a six-point margin. Nebraska hit .438 in the first game with just two attack errors on 32 swings.

Freshman outside hitter Capri Davis put down a kill on the first point of the third set to give the Huskers  lead they would not relinquish the rest of the night. Davis played in all three sets and ut down four kills on five swings.

The Huskers built the lead as high as five at 10-5 before a 4-0 Indiana run cut it to one. A 5-1 run featuring three kills by Foecke and served by Miller pushed the Huskers’ lead to six at 17-11.

A service error halted the run but Foecke got it back with another kill on the next point and sparked a 4-0 run she served herself, giving Nebraska its largest lead at 21-12. Indiana chipped into the lead a bit but never truly threatened as the Huskers closed out the sweep.

Nebraska will return to Lincoln to close out the regular season at the Devaney Center. The Huskers will host Ohio State on Friday and Maryland on Saturday.
