The Huskers just added some serious size to its defensive line.

Brant Banks‍, a 3-star (HV Rating: 82.7) defensive end from Houston, Texas, has joined the 2019 recruiting class. Banks, who stands at 6-foot-7 and 265 pounds, announced his decision at his signing on Wednesday.

The standout from Westbury Christian High School made three trips to Lincoln after Scott Frost took over the program. One in June, his official visit for the Akron “game” and an unofficial visit for the Purdue game. After his official visit back in September he told Hail Varsity about the most memorable part of his trip.

“Definitely when we were hanging out with the players during the delay,” he said. “One of the players I was talking to, he was telling me about Nebraska. He was saying that a lot of schools will say their team has camaraderie and the whole team is like a family but I could tell that Nebraska actually is that way. When the players hang out they don’t just hang out with their specific positions. It’s not defensive line only or offensive line only. It’s really the football players, it’s a whole family. The coaches are in that family too and the players speak really highly of them.”

Banks becomes the 23rdknown member of the 2019 recruiting class. He joins defensive end Mosai Newsome and potentially Ethan Piper as the defensive lineman in this class. Banks also took official visits to Missouri and Baylor. He held 18 scholarship offers including Boston College, Cal and Pittsburgh. The Huskers were the only school recruiting Banks to play defensive line.

The Texan signed on Wednesday and will enroll early in January.
