On Wednesday, 3-star linebacker (HV Rating: 87.9) Jackson Hannah‍ signed his letter of intent to play for Nebraska.

The Nashville, Tennessee, native verbally committed to the Huskers back on Jun. 6. The day before he committed, Hail Varsity caught up with him to see what stood out to him about the unofficial visit he had just taken.

“The family atmosphere,” Hannah said. “The way they conduct themselves as a team after not being there for that long. Coach Frost’s vision is something that I might want to be a part of one day. It’s really unbelievable, he’s wanting to turn that program around to what it once was. That’s what I took away from the visit.”

The versatile defender will start his career at inside linebacker but he gives the Huskers some versatility as he also has the ability to play some outside linebacker. He pairs very well with signee Nick Henrich as well. When Hannah came to Lincoln for his official visit in September, he was already studying senior linebacker Dedrick Young for things he could apply to his game.

“What Dedrick did, he read the ball really well,” Hannah said. “He read through the guard right to the running back. We haven’t learned that at my school. We are taught to read the guard first, follow his step and then rock from there. Dedrick was taking a side step, letting that guard or tackle climb up to him then making a quick step not to make full contact with him to get by the lineman to the ball carrier. It was good watching him play to see what I can do better to step up my game."

Hannah is one of my picks for a sleeper to watch in the class. His versatility at linebacker will serve him and the Huskers well in the future and he is a very good athlete. Keep an eye on him moving forward.

Hannah arrives this summer.
