Jaxon Hallmark Named Big Ten Player-of-the-Week

February 18, 2019

After a breakout opening weekend against California-Riverside, sophomore Jaxon Hallmark earned Big Ten Player-of-the-Week honors on Monday. Nebraska took the series over UC Riverside, going 3-1 on the weekend.

The Midland, Texas, native was a member of the Big Ten all-freshman team last season. He did just about everything on the field for Nebraska against the Highlanders.

Hallmark was a staple for the Nebraska offense against UC Riverside through the weekend. He went 8-for-18 with 10 RBIs, two doubles, five runs scored and one stolen base. He even made his pitching debut in Game 2 of the series, throwing 0.2 scoreless inning of relief. In Friday’s opener, Hallmark also set career highs for hits (4) and RBIs (5).

The Huskers are back in action Thursday afternoon, taking on defending national champion Oregon State. First pitch is schedule for 2 p.m. CT.
