Bellevue West WR Zavier Betts Commits to Nebraska

April 3, 2019

Nebraska’s 2020 recruiting class doubled in size on Wednesday as Bellevue West wide receiver Zavier Betts‍ announced his verbal commitment to the Huskers.

Betts (6-3, 190), a 4-star prospect (HV Rating: 93.3), took in Nebraska’s practice on Wednesday where he was warmly greeted by offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Troy Walters. He is Nebraska’s second commitment in the class, joining Athens, Alabama, quarterback Logan Smothers. Betts also had offers from Iowa, Iowa State and Minnesota.

Over three varsity seasons at Bellevue West, Betts has more than 2,100 receiving yards with 29 touchdowns. He told Hail Varsity last September that he sees similarities between what the Huskers run and his high school offense.

“It was a lot of what we do at [Bellevue] West,” he said. “Well, I should say we run an offense similar to theirs. They run the ball a lot but try to throw the ball and spread the defense as much as possible.

"Where I see myself fitting in is probably as a deep threat . . . I think I can help with that.”
