Talk about a good recruiting weekend for Nebraska.

The Huskers got their second commitment of the weekend and the third of the Fred Hoiberg era on Saturday night when junior college point guard Cam Mack shared that he has committed to Nebraska.

Mack is a top-five JUCO recruit in the country for 2019. He averaged 19 points and 7.5 assists per game last season at Salt Lake Community College.

The 6-foot-2, 180 pounder originally signed with St. John’s last November and was recruited by Matt Abdelmassih. Mack was later granted his release from St. John’s after Chris Mullin resigned as head coach.

Abdelmassih, now with Hoiberg and the Huskers, quickly went to work recruiting Mack to Nebraska. Mack is immediately eligible.

Nebraska also picked up a commitment from transfer guard Matej Kavas on Friday, marking a big recruiting weekend for Hoiberg and his staff. Depending on what happens with Isaiah Roby, the Huskers will have either two (if he stays for his senior season) or three (if he leaves for the NBA) scholarships remaining for next season.

Update: It’s officially official. Mack has signed with the Huskers, which they shared Monday afternoon.

“We are excited to add Cam to our program,” Hoiberg said in the release. “He possesses elite quickness and playmaking ability and his skillset will allow us to play an up-tempo style. With the graduation of Glynn Watson Jr., finding a lead guard was a priority for us this spring.”
