Isaiah Roby won’t be the only Husker with a chance to show what he can do in front of NBA scouts. Former Nebraska guard James Palmer Jr. will get that opportunity as well as he has received an invitation to the first ever G League Elite Camp.

The pre-draft camp is set for May 13 and 14 in Chicago. It will provide an opportunity for 40 draft-eligible players not initially selected for the NBA Draft Combine to compete in front of professional scouts. A select number of the players at the camp will also receive an invitation to the combine which runs from May 14 to May 19, also in Chicago.

Roby has already received an invitation to the combine.

Palmer has previously participated in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, a senior-only pre-draft event in which Palmer led his team to a third-place finished and was named to the PIT All-Tournament team. He also participated in the Reese’s College All-Star game at the Final Four where he led the victorious East team with 21 points off the bench in a 110-105 win.

The 6-foot-6 guard averaged 19.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.4 steals while shooting 36.9 percent from the field, 31.3 percent from 3 and 76.2 percent from the free-throw line this season. As a senior, he set school records for single-season points (708), free throw attempts (282), free throws (215) and minutes played (1,269). Palmer was tabbed as a third-team All-Big Ten performer after scoring 20 or more points 18 times with a high of 34.

Palmer started all 69 games of his two-year Husker career after transferring from Miami, finishing with the second-highest career scoring average in Husker history (18.5 points per game). Palmer was a first-team All-Big Ten pick by the coaches in 2017-18 after averaging 17.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists for a 22-11 team.

Minnesota’s Amir Coffey, Iowa’s Tyler Cook and Wisconsin’s Ethan Happ are the other Big Ten players who have received invitations.

The 2019 NBA Draft is set for June 20.
