Recruiting never stops and it's easy to miss the top stories day-to-day. Recruiting analyst Greg Smith recaps all things Nebraska recruiting news, analysis and more so you never miss a thing.

Now that summer is (kind of) here, we are right on the verge of seeing official visits on a consistent basis for class of 2020 prospects. Some prospects have already elected to take their official visits since things opened up in April. Nebraska has used official visits on 4-star defensive tackle Nash Hutmacher, 2019 defensive lineman Jahkeem Green and graduate transfer wide receiver Kanawai Noa.

By my count, Nebraska has 11 official visits left to use this summer. There is a possibility that not all 11 would be used because you can carry over up to five visits. However, there is a chance the Huskers could end up using most of the visits. The reason is that a number of their top targets have will be taking summer official visits.

  • OLB Blaise Gunnerson
  • WR Xavier Watts
  • LB Cody Simon
  • DT Jamar Sekona
  • RB Sevion Morrison
  • OT Roger Rosengarten
  • TE Tommy Christakos

Also, all of those players have talked about committing before their senior seasons or committing early in their senior year. There are also bound to be more prospects that pop up around Friday Night Lights that may want to use an official visit to check Lincoln out. Plus, we have come to expect surprises with this staff doing work with targets behind the scenes that just seem to pop up on campus.

We also can’t forget junior college prospects because they don’t have a lot of time for visits during their seasons. In addition to that, what about graduate transfers? The Huskers have a couple needs still, specifically at linebacker. They could need additional official visits to host those potential additions like they did with Noa.

There is certainly a juggling act that is about to begin with official visits and targets that Nebraska wants to be sure to have on campus before a decision is made.
