Hot Reads: It's College Football's Point Spread Season

We had a wave of college football preview magazines hit the newsstands a few weeks ago. This week, it's point-spread season. CG Technology, one of the big line originators in Vegas, released opening lines for select games on Wednesday.

Unless you're in Vegas at this point, good luck getting a look at the complete list with every line that was released yesterday. Instead you have to sort of piece it together from  sports-betting Twitter.

It looks like the only Nebraska game in this group of lines was, again, Ohio State's trip to Lincoln on Sept. 28. On the CG Technology line––which is used at Hard Rock Hotel, Palms, Venetian, Tropicana and others––the Huskers opened as a 10-point underdog to the Buckeyes.

Seven hours later, despite low limits on these games, the Nebraska-Ohio State line had moved two points in the Huskers' favor.

That puts the line close to what it opened at (-7.5) with Bet Online back in March. As of this morning, that line was at Ohio State -7. Most of the Big Ten v. Big Ten games there have remained pretty close to the opening line, but Michigan saw a drop of at least a point in four of its games: at Penn State (-5.5 to -4.5), Notre Dame (-8.5 to -7.5), Michigan State (-11 to -10) and Ohio State (-4.5 to -3).

The Golden Nugget, one of the few books that still does its own lines, will release another big batch of games this afternoon. Maybe we'll get a few more Husker games this time around.
