Nebraska freshman Wan’Dale Robinson was cited by University of Nebraska-Lincoln police Sunday night for the possession of marijuana. Leslie Reed—UNL’s Public Affairs Director—confirmed the news to Hail Varsity.

According to the UNLPD report, Robinson was cited at 11:28 p.m. CT on Sunday. Police were called to the University Suites on 17th and R in Lincoln after a community service officer reported the odor of marijuana coming from Robinson’s dorm room.

Three other people were in the room with Robinson, but he was the only one searched. Reed said the marijuana was found during a search of Robinson’s vehicle.

This is Robinson’s first offense and therefore the citation is considered an infraction, which is less than a misdemeanor. No jail time is possible, per Reed. Robinson has a court appearance scheduled for July 9.

A representative from Nebraska responded to Hail Varsity’s request for comment on the matter.

“We are aware of the situation and are addressing it,” the statement said.

Robinson, a former 4-star wideout/running back from Kentucky who enrolled at UNL in January, is the second Husker involved in a marijuana-related offense in the last week. On June 4, sophomore running back Maurice Washington was cited for possessing drug paraphernalia after UNL police were called to his room and found a  pipe with burned residue in it.
