The Huskers have made a late addition to the roster.

On Tuesday, former Rutgers sophomore tight end Travis Vokolek announced on Twitter that he will transfer to Nebraska.

The Springfield, Missouri, native visited Nebraska during the last week of May. After entering the transfer portal Vokolek visited Iowa and Kansas State in addition to Nebraska. As a sophomore, Vokolek had 16 receptions for 184 yards and two touchdowns.

In the 2019 recruiting cycle, the Huskers added tight end Chris Hickman. The roster also boasts redshirt junior Jack Stoll, redshirt sophomores Austin Allen and Kurt Rafdal and redshirt freshman Katerian Legrone.

The tight end, who stands at 6-foot-6 and 250 pounds, does have a connection to the Huskers. His father DJ worked with quarterbacks coach Mario Verduzco and defensive coordinator Erik Chinander at Northern Iowa in the early 2000s.

He has two seasons of eligibility left after needing to sit out the 2019 season.
