The Huskers have added another offensive weapon to the 2020 recruiting class.

Nebraska got some good news on Monday when 3-star (HV Rating: 85.8) wide receiver Will Nixon‍ committed to Nebraska. Nixon announced his decision on Twitter.

Things moved fairly quickly between Nixon and the Huskers. He picked up an offer from Nebraska back in March. During the evaluation period the Huskers sent offensive coordinator Troy Walters and running backs coach Ryan Held to Waco, Texas, to visit him. After a great in-person meeting, Nixon returned the favor with an unofficial visit in June.

After that visit in June, Hail Varsity caught up with Nixon who really enjoyed that unofficial visit.

“I loved it,” Nixon said. “It was great. It’s a great college town. I loved the facilities. I got to meet all the coaching staff on the offensive side. I got to talk to Coach [Scott] Frost. He’s a great guy and chill. They told me the honest truth, that I could be a big player for them if I work hard and go down that road.”

The speedy pass catcher who stands at 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds has football in the family. His father Jeff is the offensive coordinator at Baylor and has been since 2017. Nixon chose Nebraska over Baylor, Notre Dame, Purdue and Georgia Tech. This summer he visited Purdue, Notre Dame and Georgia Tech, in addition to Nebraska.

The Huskers now have eight known commitments in the class of 2020. Nixon is the second wide receiver in the class with Bellevue West’s Zavier Betts.
