Recruiting never stops and it's easy to miss the top stories day-to-day. Recruiting analyst Greg Smith recaps all things Nebraska recruiting news, analysis and more so you never miss a thing.

Over the last few weeks, we have fielded more and more questions about specific Nebraska commits’ rankings on the recruiting services. This is a pretty natural line of questions from fans because they always want their team’s future players to have high ratings. It also makes sense because it’s a great thing to debate during the summer before football is back and then the prospects can put something on tape for their senior seasons.

One player that I’ve pretty consistently felt is underrated is Iowa outside linebacker Blaise Gunnerson. That belief was validated some when he was invited to the Adidas All-American Game earlier this week.

Gunnerson is another example of a prospect that Nebraska evaluated early and pushed hard for long before he started rising up the rankings. He stands at 6-foot-5, 250-pounds and has the power and athleticism to play either defensive end or outside linebacker. A big part of why he has flown under the radar is that he missed his whole junior season with a hip injury.

Still, that didn’t keep Iowa State from also pursuing him heavily, which is the main team Nebraska had to beat out for his pledge.

If Husker fans are looking for a player that will eventually shoot up the rankings, Gunnerson looks to be a prime candidate. I expect him to do that just after he puts up a big-time senior season for his Kuemper Catholic High School team.
