On Friday, July 12, two Huskers, Marquel Dismuke and Jeramiah Stovall, were involved in a traffic stop that resulted in cite and releases for both.

At around 8 p.m. CT, Dismuke, a junior defensive back, was pulled over near 13th and Sumner for driving without a front license plate on his vehicle. A Lincoln Police officer discovered Dismuke was driving with a suspended license, and Dismuke was issued a cite and release, a spokesperson for LPD confirmed to Hail Varsity.

The suspension came from a prior accident Dismuke was involved in during April of this same year when he was driving without insurance. He also had a prior driving under suspension conviction from March, so his vehicle was towed by LPD on Friday, the spokesperson said.

Stovall, a senior defensive back, was in the passenger seat Friday night. When the officer approached the car, he smelled a marijuana odor coming from it and a search found less than one ounce in Stovall’s possession. Stovall was also issued a cite and release, the spokesperson said.

“We are aware of the incident and are addressing it,” a spokesperson for the athletic department said in a statement.

This is the third run-in with police for Husker players in the last two months.

Maurice Washington — who has a plea hearing in California for his pending criminal trial set for July 25 — was issued a cite and release for possession of drug paraphernalia on June 4. Six days later, on June 10, freshman Wan’Dale Robinson was cited by University Police for possession of marijuana.
