JUCO DL Jahkeem Green Sticking with Nebraska

Nebraska received some good news from the recruiting trail on Wednesday. Highland Community College defensive lineman Jahkeem Green reaffirmed his commitment to the Huskers, sources confirmed to Hail Varsity. Green took two trips to Lincoln this spring. The second trip was an official visit for the spring game, which is when he initially committed to Nebraska.

There are a couple of unique things with Green’s recruitment. First, he counts as a 2019 recruit. He is out of junior college eligibility so since he committed to Nebraska, he will be able to join the team as soon as fall camp gets underway. As long as he has finished his academic requirements, of course. This summer he has been back home in South Carolina finishing his coursework.

According to one of Green’s former coaches, Judd Remmers, he finished up his summer classes on Wednesday. The next steps from here are waiting for the final grades to be posted before the paperwork can be sent to Lincoln. He will likely be able to report in a week to 10 days.

Things became a bit dicey when word spread that Green had taken an official visit to Texas Tech this summer. Since he couldn’t sign a letter of intent, he was free to take other visits while verbally committed to Nebraska. Oklahoma made a push as well for the talented lineman but in the end, the Huskers hung onto him. He will help put together a formidable defensive line in new D-line coach Tony Tuioti’s first season on the job.
