The Huskers landed their first running back commitment for the class of 2020.

On Wednesday, 3-star (HV Rating: 85.7) running back Sevion Morrison‍ announced that he has committed to Nebraska. Morrison made his announcement at a ceremony at his school.

This was another early evaluation win for the Huskers. Nebraska was the first team to offer a scholarship to the Tulsa running back. Over the weekend of June 21, Morrison made the trip to Lincoln for an official visit. After that official visit he told Hail Varsity that he found a family vibe in Lincoln. Morrison also loved the offensive fit for him in Lincoln.

“Man, I think it’s perfect honestly,” Morrison said. “The way Coach [Scott] Frost uses his running backs, they do everything. They go from the slot, to empty running out the backfield, to the pitch on the option. They do everything. You won’t be the running back just running up the hole, it’s an all-around back.”

Before Morrison’s announcement, Hail Varsity caught up with his head coach at Edison Prep Tony Daniels. I asked Daniels about what makes the running back so special. Morrison posted a junior season with 2,761 rushing yards and 38 total touchdowns.

“Vision. He sees the field differently,” Daniels said. “He can cut on a dime or lower the shoulder and run you over.”

Morrison mentioned in June how excited he would be to play in Nebraska’s offense backfield. I asked coach Daniels about Morrison’s ability to handle catching the ball out of the backfield or lining up in the slot.

“That’s a strong point of his game,” he said. “He can catch the ball out of the back field while lined up at slot or running back empty, he will be something to have to cover.”

Morrison picked Nebraska over Arkansas and Missouri. He held over 20 scholarship offers from around the country. The Oklahoma native became the ninth known member of the 2020 recruiting class
