WR Jamire Calvin Commits to Oregon State

January 7, 2017

Wide receiver prospect Jamire Calvin was a favorite to select Nebraska during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, but he instead chose Oregon State. He made the announcement during the first quarter of the game. He chose the Beavers over Alabama, Notre Dame, Nebraska and Washington State.

"For the next four years, I'll be attending Oregon State University," Calvin said.

As for why the wide receiver made the late decision change, he credited a few reasons.

"I originally had my mind set on another school and then for the past few days, just talking with everyone, talked to my dad, talking to God, I just had a heart-change," Calvin said. "And just being able to play with my best friend, it's just a blessing."

There were rumblings on Twitter about the possible change of heart heading up to the game, as Calvin retweeted a friend suggesting he would "shock the world."

The wide receiver from Cathedral High School in Los Angeles, California, is listed as a 4-star with 91.1 rating according to Hail Varsity's composite ranking.
