Recruiting never stops and it's easy to miss the top stories day-to-day. Recruiting analyst Greg Smith recaps all things Nebraska recruiting news, analysis and more so you never miss a thing.

The Huskers have officially entered their second bye week of the season. Just like the first bye of the season, they get a week off after a loss that will lead to a lot of discussion about what is wrong with the program. There will be plenty of external debates about where to go from here as Coach Scott Frost looks to get his program off the ground.

One thing the coaching staff will certainly do this week is get out on the road and recruit.

It seems like there was a focus on getting out to see the current commitments during the first bye week. We know that quarterback Logan Smothers, offensive tackle Turner Corcoran, running back Sevion Morrison and outside linebacker Blaise Gunnerson all received visits from the staff. There is also good reason to believe that some of the Florida commits got visits. Defensive backs coach Travis Fisher was around Florida during that time.

This time around look for the Huskers to get out to see their priority uncommitted targets. Also, they could see some top underclassmen targets. Pay particular attention to which uncommitted targets get visits. We are getting down to crunch time with some of Nebraska’s top targets. In particular, 4-star outside linebacker Kaden Johnson, 3-star linebacker Choe Bryant-Strother and junior college wide receiver Omar Manning. All three are critical to Nebraska’s 2020 class.

Tight ends coach Sean Beckton gave a preview last week on Sports Nightly on what’s to come this week. One of the issues the staff has to navigate is staying within the allotment of evaluation days allowed by the NCAA.

"We're going to spend some days out next week,” Beckton said. “Some guys may have two. I'm only slated to take one with the numbers there, so I'm going to take south Georgia. There's some young players, some 2021 kids, that I really want to get down and focus on and see. Recruiting has changed where you have to get on the class that is almost two classes ahead now. If you're not reaching out to those coaches via text, you're way behind. So, I'm going to take advantage."

It wouldn’t be surprising to see a few new JUCO offers go out this week. There are spots to be filled in the current recruiting cycle. Yet, they must stay mindful of future classes as they continue to build relationships with prospects around the country. It’s a balancing act and the margin for error isn’t big right now. Given the 10 or so spots still available leading up to the December signing period time is important.

This week of evaluations and next week’s game against Wisconsin will be important. This two-week stretch is important for building the current and future classes to come.
