Recruiting never stops and it's easy to miss the top stories day-to-day. Recruiting analyst Greg Smith recaps all things Nebraska recruiting news, analysis and more so you never miss a thing.

Last weekend, the Huskers hosted several prospects. There were seven official visitors, a handful of commits and walk-on commits in town. One thing that the staff has consistently done is get future prospects on campus to get them exposed to the coaches, players and fans early.

Sometimes the staff wants to also get a player on campus before offering him. That happened for 2021 Kansas City wide receiver Jaylin Noel. The speedy wideout (5-11, 170) picked up an offer this weekend.

Hail Varsity caught up with Noel who was excited to receive an offer from the Huskers, saying that any offer he receives is a blessing and exciting. It was Noel’s first time at a Nebraska game and the atmosphere left an impression.

“The visit was really good,” Noel said. “I enjoyed the atmosphere. The fans really are proud of their team.”

One of the key parts of these visits is getting to see how the Huskers operate behind the scenes with strength and conditioning plus nutrition. When it comes to highlights of the trip, Noel brought up something that is growing in popularity with recruits.

“One big highlight was actually meeting with the nutritionist [Dave Ellis] and him telling where my body can grow and how I could develop to become a better athlete,” Noel said. “Also, of course, the fans stood out and how passionate they are. Finally, I think the coaching staff does really well talking to the recruits before the game.”

Noel’s mom and stepdad came with him to Lincoln. They really enjoyed the trip as well and found themselves impressed by the fans and the facilities. The Park Hill star was sure he will return to Lincoln in the future.

“For sure, I’ll be back,” he said. “It was a great school and they honestly believe the program will be turned around soon and I believe it.”

The wideout has some time before he ultimately makes a college decision. However, he has a set of criteria that he is looking for in his future home.

“For me, of course a good education,” Noel said. “Sports is my dream but you need something to go to after sports, so definitely a good education. Also, does the school feel like family and does it feel like that all year around, not just during football season.”

Continuing to find and land good talent in the Midwest will continue to be a focus for this staff moving forward. Noel will be another quality target to watch moving forward.
