Walk-on safety Isaiah Stalbird intends to transfer from Nebraska. The redshirt freshman from Kearney shared the news on Twitter Monday evening.

Stalbird appeared in all 12 games in 2019 as both a key member of the Huskers’ special teams unit and at safety. He totaled 13 tackles this past season, leading the team with 10 special teams tackles in 2019. He also had one forced fumble and blocked one punt.

While players who enter the NCAA transfer portal can return to their current teams, it appears Stalbird is set on moving on.

“After talking with my parents and peers I have decided that it is in my best interest to leave the University of Nebraska,” he wrote on Twitter.

A number of Husker teammates shared support for Stalbird following his announcement.

Stalbird is the fourth Husker expected to transfer this offseason joining wide receivers Jaron Woodyard, Andre Hunt and tight end Katerian LeGrone.
