Huskers Land Top Target in JUCO WR Omar Manning

December 13, 2019

Nebraska got big news on Friday night. The Huskers were hard after big-bodied wide receivers on the recruiting trail this cycle and they landed one with the commitment of Kilgore (Texas) Community College wideout Omar Manning‍.

Manning (6-foot-3, 224 pounds) was at or near the top of the presumed list of targets for Nebraska in 2020. Hail Varsity recruiting analyst Greg Smith listed him as the top target Nebraska had a shot at in his monthly rankings, Greg's Guys, in October and November.

The Huskers hosted Manning in June for their Friday Night Lights camp. It was the only official visit Manning would take, but he received plenty of interest with offers from Florida State, Florida, Arkansas, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Oregon, Boise State and Utah. Texas A&M entered the picture in recent weeks.

But Nebraska won out. Per, Manning had 35 receptions for 727 yards (20.8 per catch) with six receiving touchdowns for Kilgore in 2019. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Originally from Lancaster, Texas, Manning signed with TCU as a member of the 2017 class and redshirted his freshman season.
