Nebraska Nabs Commitment of 4-Star WR Marcus Fleming

If I may, please direct your attention to one very specific segment of Marcus Fleming‍’s Hudl film. Go to the 1:26 mark.

See the coach in the bottom left corner of the clip throw his hands up in the air as Fleming takes a simple little hitch to the house, breaking a tackle and then breaking a separate set of ankles in the process? Speed kills.

Welcome that speed to Lincoln. Fleming, a 4-star (HV rating: 90.8) wideout from Miami, Florida, is “N.” He announced the decision at a ceremony at prep powerhouse Miami Northwestern.

Fleming holds offers from everywhere—the Floridas and Georgias of the SEC, Florida State in the ACC, Oregon and USC out on the west coast, and Penn State, Maryland and Indiana here in the Big Ten—but he originally committed to Miami.

An official visit to Lincoln for the Wisconsin game on Nov. 16 saw him leave uncommitted.

Nebraska has been high on the speedy receiver for a while. A summer enrollee, Fleming won the Florida state championship in the 100- and 200-meter dash and ran a verified 4.47 40-yard dash at Nike’s The Opening in February. He has a reported 10.62 100m dash to his name as well.

Fleming joins a 2020 class that also features three other known wideout commits, 4-star Bellevue native Zavier Betts‍, 4-star JUCO product Omar Manning‍, and 3-star Texas native Will Nixon‍. Betts and Manning come with listed heights at 6-foot-3 and 6-foot-4, respectively, fitting the bill for that big-bodied receiver Nebraska has prioritized, but Fleming is more of the prototypical Florida speedster this staff has oft valued on the trail, standing at 5-foot-11.

Fleming is the 22nd known member of the 2020 class
