Recruiting never stops and it's easy to miss the top stories day-to-day. Recruiting analyst Greg Smith recaps all things Nebraska recruiting news, analysis and more so you never miss a thing.

It looks like the this year’s camp schedule for the Huskers has been set. Last Friday in Big Red Recon (Premium), I noted that the date for the Coaches Clinic has been set for April 3. Some of the coaches started the call to action tweets this week for registrations.

Here is the camp schedule Nebraska has set now (which is still subject to change):

  • Coaches Clinic: April 3rd
  • Team Camp: May 31st - June 2nd
  • Friday Night Lights No. 1: June 5th
  • Individual Camp No. 1: June 6th
  • QB Camp: June 6th
  • Inside Husker Football 202: June 9th
  • Individual Camp No. 2: June 10th
  • Specialist Camp: June 10th
  • Rising 7th & 8th Grade Camp: June 12th
  • Husker Football Youth Camps: June 13th
  • 7 on 7 Camp: June 14th
  • Women’s Clinic: June 16th
  • Inside Husker Football 303: June 18th
  • Friday Night Lights No. 2: June 19th
  • Pipeline Camp: June 20th
  • Husker Football Youth Camp 3: June 25th

It will be a busy month of June for the Nebraska coaching staff. During this time, the staff will also be out at satellite camps around the country. There are some notable additions and changes to the camp list this time around. There is now an ‘Inside Husker Football 303’ event which sounds like it could be informative. This is the first year that Coach Scott Frost and staff will host a ‘QB Camp.’ I’m sure the team would love to make that a marquee event, especially given the head coach's former position.

The Friday Night Lights camps won’t be back-to-back weekends this summer. It has been that way since the camps started. Having one FNL at the start of the month and one closer to the end might make more strategic sense.  You do tend to see kids get out to camps early in the month and then later in the month. Notably absent from the list in the National OL/DL Pipeline Camp that Nebraska partnered with Adidas for last year. Presumably, that event will still happen given how much of a success it was last year. That camp has the potential to be nice yearly event for Nebraska.

There is one more key thing to watch for during these FNL weekends. Last year, the Huskers used these events as part of their official visit weekends. Omar Manning, Blaise Gunnerson, Sevion Morrison, Marvin Scott III and Tamon Lynum all took official visits during FNL weekends last summer.

I expect that to become a trend so that top targets can get more exposure to different aspects of the program.
