Huskers Add 3-star LB Seth Malcom to 2021 Recruiting Class

June 6, 2020

The Huskers received good news on Saturday evening. That’s when 3-star (HV Rating: 84.3) linebacker Seth Malcom‍ committed to the Huskers. He announced his decision on social media.

Malcom has one of the most unique stories of any player that Nebraska was recruiting this cycle. It’s rare for a prospect that plays eight-man football to garner this type of attention as he holds a handful of scholarship offers. The Iowa native projects as an inside linebacker and has been highly productive for his team totaling almost 200 tackles over the last two seasons.

The Huskers were among the first to offer Malcom a scholarship. The staff saw his potential early coming from eight-man football. Defensive coordinator Erik Chinander—who leads the charge on Iowa targets—has been the point person on his recruitment. Malcom was last in Lincoln in January for Junior Day. He held scholarship offers from Kansas State, Iowa State and Minnesota among others.

Nebraska now has four linebackers in the 2021 recruiting class. Malcom joins Chris Paul Jr and Randolph Kpai as inside linebackers. Patrick Payton is the lone prospect slated to play outside linebacker at this time. Malcom is the second Iowa native in the class joining offensive lineman Henry Lutovsky. The Huskers’ class now sits at nine known commitments.
