Nebraska’s Second Week of June Official Visit Preview

June 10, 2021

The Huskers will host their second official visit weekend of the summer this weekend. After hosting eight official visitors during the first official visit weekend, the team is following that up with six prospects heading to Lincoln. Currently Nebraska sits with three commitments for the 2022 recruiting class.

Let’s break down where each visitor is in their recruitment with Nebraska.

3-star linebacker Tyler Martin (Acton, Massachusetts)

Martin is possibly the recruit most likely to end up a Husker that is visiting this weekend. The former Michigan commit took a self-guided tour to Lincoln a couple months back. He now returns for an official visit to get the full tour of Nebraska. There is just one spot left in the class for an inside linebacker. He (6-3, 238) does have some position flexibility though to play outside which could make him even more valuable to the class.

3-star wide receiver Grant Page (Boulder, Colorado)

The Colorado native (6-3, 185) visited Lincoln for the spring game, coming away impressed. He liked what he saw enough to set an official visit for this weekend. He took an official visit to Kansas State for the last weekend. The tricky thing with Page is that the Huskers will likely take one more receiver. If first-week visitor Landon Samson wants in the class, will Page also have a spot? Perhaps the Huskers make room for both if needed.

3-star running back Ashton Hayes (Reno, Nevada)

The Huskers are likely looking for one running back in the 2022 recruiting class. Hayes 5-11, 180) broke onto the recruiting scene during his sophomore year. That season he had 2,429 yards and 30 touchdowns in 13 games., with 28 more receptions for 346 yards and two scores. Hayes visited Cal last weekend but has no other official visits lined up at the moment.

3-star defensive back Avery Powell (Bayonne, New Jersey)

The New Jersey defensive back (5-9, 170) is shorter than the typical defensive backs that the Huskers have recruited. Size has been at a premium under defensive backs coach Travis Fisher. However Powell looks to be an exception to that rule by looking at his offer list. He’s got close to 30 offers including Wisconsin, Penn State, Ole Miss and Boston College. The Huskers will take their turn at impressing him over the weekend.

3-star defensive lineman Hayden Schwartz (Ponte Vedra, Florida)

The Huskers are in the thick of it for the defensive lineman (6-4, 244) who attends The Bolles School in Florida. That high school has sent several players to the Florida Gators but Schwartz looks to be spreading his wings. He visited Michigan last week and will take a trip to Northwestern. The Wolverines seemed to make a big impression and Florida is looming. Schwartz is scheduled to work out for the Gators next week.

3-star defensive back Markeith Williams (Orlando, Florida)

The Huskers are doing well to get Williams (6-1, 170) on campus this weekend. His stock is rising with official visits set to Miami, Nebraska and Ohio State. The team has had success recruiting the Sunshine State under the direction of Scott Frost. That’s one of the reasons why Williams likes the Big Ten program. His cousin, cornerback Tamon Lynum, is currently on the team. Nebraska will need a big weekend to stay in it with Williams but have the connections to do so.
