Husker Volleyball Leads Latest Issue of Hail Varsity

August 14, 2017

With footballs and volleyballs in the air around the country, now feels like the right time for a new issue of Hail Varsity. Like those teams practicing for their first games a few weeks away, we’re excited to show off the work we put in over the summer.

“The Volleyball Issue” is your in-depth preview for Nebraska and Big Ten volleyball in 2017. Once you crack the cover, featuring All-American setter Kelly Hunter, you’ll find inside a detailed breakdown of the Huskers from staff writer Jacob Padilla, a Q&A with junior libero Kenzie Maloney, Big Ten volleyball capsules, a Legends interview with former Nebraska standout Karen Dahlgren Schonewise, powerful portraits from photographer Paul Bellinger and an exclusive excerpt of John Cook’s new book, Dream Like a Champion.

If you’re a long-time Hail Varsity subscriber, you might also notice a few improvements for the fall sports season. One, you get more pages to match our new monthly frequency. Two, we spent most of the summer working on a careful redesign, which will get more on those pages while still maintaining the clean design that makes our magazine stand out from the rest.

Other highlights from the issue include:

>>An expanded Hot Reads section where we have a little fun, tackling Friday night games, the top Husker Twitter handles, winners and losers from the summer, where to look for big plays from Nebraska this season and the newly redecorated Hawks Championship Center.

>>Founder and CEO Aaron Babcock delivers a gorgeous photo essay on Nebraska’s Fan Day to open this issue.

>>Editor Mike Babcock writes on the start of his 40th season covering Nebraska football in a can’t-miss column.

>>The issue also features the debuts of recent additions to the Hail Varsity team, staff writer Derek Peterson and recruiting analyst Greg Smith.

The latest issue of Hail Varsity ships to newsstands and mailboxes this week. Want in on the fun? We’d be happy to have you — subscribe today.
