Nebraska volleyball enters the 2017 season with some key players to replace from last year’s team that made it to the NCAA Semifinals in Columbus, but one outlet isn’t predicting much of a drop off for the Huskers in 2017.
PrepVolleyball.com released its preseason top 10 on Wednesday with the Huskers at No. 5. Here’s what author, Chris Tobolski, had to say about Nebraska:
It’s a changing of the guard as the Rolfzen twins are gone, but that doesn’t necessarily mean slippage. Nebraska recruits with the best of them, plus the Huskers still have outside Makaela [sic] Foecke and middle Bri Holman to build around.
Two other Big Ten teams joined Nebraska in the top 10 — No. 4 Penn State and No. 7 Minnesota. Nebraska isn’t scheduled to face Creighton in 2017, but the Bluejays came in at No. 8.
Defending national champion Stanford checked in at No. 2, one spot behind Texas, the team it beat for the 2016 title.
Nebraska opens the 2017 season Aug. 25 and 26 at the VERT Challenge in Gainesville, Florida. The Huskers will face Oregon and Florida, ranked 13th and 11th respectively by PrepVolleyball.com.
