Three Huskers to Compete for Team USA at 2021 FIVB U20 World Championships

July 09, 2021

Nebraska volleyball will be well-represented at the 2021 FIVB Women’s U20 World Championship as freshmen Lindsay Krause, Ally Batenhorst and Lexi Rodriguez made the cut for the United States’ team.

The tournament will begin Friday and run through July 18 in the Netherlands and Belgium.

The three Husker newcomers made the cut from 20 down to 12 after a week-long training camp in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nebraska leads all programs with three representatives on the team; Stanford is the only other school with more than one.

All three have previous international experience. Krause and Batenhorst were on the USA team that won gold at the 2018 NORCECA U18 Continental Championship in Honduras. Krause and Rodriguez helped the United State stake gold at the 2019 FIVB Girls U18 World Championships in Egypt.

Rodriguez and Batenhorst both enrolled at Nebraska in January while Krause joined them on campus in May. All three were top-10 recruits according to PrepVolleyball.com. Krause and Batenhorst were both named 2020-21 Gatorade Player of the Year in their respective states, and Batenhorst also earned national Gatorade Player of the Year honors. Rodriguez’s senior season was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but she was the 2019-20 Gatorade Player of the Year in Illinois.

Team US is competing in Pool C along with Russia, Thailand and Turkey. The first match is set for 11:30 a.m. CT against Russia. All matches will be streamed on the Volleyball World YouTube page.
