Tickets went on sale Monday for the annual Nebraska volleyball Red/White Scrimmage set for 7 p.m. on Aug. 19 at the Devaney Center.
Tickets are $10 each and can be acquired through the Nebraska Athletics Ticket Office. Nebraska is also offering a reduced rate of $8 per ticket for groups that buy 15 or more tickets.
The reigning Big Ten champions will unveil their 2016 championship banner during the scrimmage. Nebraska went 31-3 last season including 18-2 in conference play. Nebraska advanced to the Final Four in Columbus, Ohio, before falling to Texas in three sets.
Nebraska lost four seniors to graduation but returns a strong core including team captain and setter Kelly Hunter, middle blocker Briana Holman and outside hitter Mikaela Foecke. The Huskers add five freshmen an have middle blocker Lauren Stivrins and setter Hunter Atherton coming off a redshirt year. Allie Havers, who just wrapped up a four-year career on the women’s basketball team, has also joined the team for her fifth year and will play middle blocker at 6-foot-5.
Head coach John Cook had to replace his assistant coaching staff after last season as Chris and Jen Tamas and Dani Busboom Kelly both left for other opportunities. Tyler Hildebrand and Kayla Banwarth will fill those roles for the 2017 season.
The season begin on Aug. 25 with the VERT Challenge which will see the Huskers play Oregon and Florida this season. Nebraska will also host UCLA for a pair of games in September and will participate in the Omaha Challenge in mid-September with games against Kansas State, Northern Iowa and Omaha.
