The Nebraska beach volleyball team opened its 2020 season on Friday at home against Park. The Huskers played five matches at the Hawks Championship Center beach facility, sweeping the Pirates 5-0.
Nicklin Hames and Lauren Stivrins dominated in the first match, 21-5, 21-14. Jazz Sweet and Lexi Sun followed that up in the second match, 21-13, 21-7. Madi Kubik and Kenzie Knuckles won their match, 21-9, 21-9. Park took Hayley Densberger and Callie Schwarzenbach to three sets but the two still came out victorious, 21-19, 17-21, 15-11. Nicole Drewnick and Riley Zuhn finished out the sweep in three sets, 28-26, 12-21, 15-9. Redshirt freshmen Emma Gabel and Fallon Stutheit ended the day with an exhibition win over Park, 21-9, 21-10.
The Huskers will be back at the Hawks Championship Center beach facility on Saturday to play Park once again. First match is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. CT.
