The No. 22 Nebraska women’s basketball program signed two 2023 players on Wednesday, both having won Gatorade Player of the Year in their respective state.
Logan Nissley, a two-time recipient of the award, and Natalie Potts signed their National Letter of Intent, the program announced. Nissley is a guard from North Dakota, while Potts is a forward from Missouri.
The former is ranked as the No. 91 player in the class of 2023 by ESPN, and also was the state’s volleyball player of the year. On the basketball court, she averaged 21.4 points per game, 8.0 rebounds and 3.6 steals in her junior season. Nissley is a strong shooter as well, having shot 47% from beyond the arc last year.
“She is a prolific shooter and has an incredible feel for the game. Her skill-set translates perfectly to our team and system, and she is a great match for our team’s culture,” head coach Amy Williams said. “Her experience in winning multiple state championships will add to our winning culture. We are definitely excited to get her in a Husker uniform.”
Potts won her player of the year honor in 2020-21 by averaging 20.8 points per game, 9.3 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 1.5 blocks. Last season, the award went to Ysabella Fontleroy, who is now a guard for No. 18 Baylor. Potts enters her senior year as the top-ranked player in Missouri. She owns the school record for most points scored in a game with 40.
“We are so excited to add Natalie to our Husker women’s basketball family,” Williams said. “She is a great fit for us both on and off the basketball court. She has an incredible motor, and her competitive spirit matches the values we have for our team.”
Both players chose the Huskers over Gonzaga, while Nissley also considered Minnesota, Utah and Iowa.
