Huskers Land Another D-Line Commit
The hits keep coming for Nebraska this December on the defensive line.
Two weeks ago the Huskers landed Terrell Clinkscales, the top-rated defensive tackle in the junior college ranks. Yesterday, Nebraska flipped Highland (Kan.) Community College defensive end Joe Keels, a Wisconsin commit whose cousin, Melvin Gordon, is a star running back for the Badgers.
Now today the Huskers beat out Michigan State and its vaunted defensive reputation for Montclair (N.J.) High School defensive end Darius Slade.
Ranked as a 3-star prospect by Scout, Rivals and 247Sports, Slade had offers from Penn State, Miami, Pittsburgh, and West Virginia among others but his final decision came down to the Huskers and Spartans.
Slade’s commitment is the Huskers’ fourth this month and Nebraska’s class ranking continues to climb. Prior to Slade’s announcement, Rivals had the Huskers’ class at No. 26, 247Sports at No. 32 and Scout at No. 37, but it should get another bump with this commitment.
Slade is the 19th player to verbally commit to Nebraska for 2014.
